three toothpaste kisses,
one part ironed-out ties
face the lies, face the noise
look the mirror in the eyes
turn around and deny it
as you whisper,
"I am but one"
hug me close, hold me tighter
squeeze my ribs and smother me
make the day melt away
within your warm, clamping embrace
cheeks stained with liquid salt
face buried deep in a mess of hair
under your breath you say
